Alan Johnson Visit

The Secretary of State for Health Alan Johnson will be coming to speak to us on Friday 13th June in the main Lecture Theatre at York College at 2.30pm.

Everyone is invited to come, so don't miss this rare opportunity to see a senior cabinet minister in York and to put questions to him.

Campaign Day for James Alexander

We will be out campaigning for Labour candidate James Alexander in York Outer on Saturday 7th June.

York Outer is a new constituency, so it's anyone's guess as to which way it will swing in a General Election. Even so, it'll take a group of enthusiastic campaigners to turn it red next time and now is a particularly important time to get out there and tell people why they should be supporting Labour.

Next social

Our next social will be a joint one with the York Labour Councillors as well as members of York University Labour Club. It's on Monday 19th May at 8pm in the Golden Ball on Cromwell Road.

If you've ever wanted to meet your local councillor - to thank them, complain to them or just to say hello - now's your chance. They don't bite, honest!

Frank Dobson also comes to York!

The former Health Secretary, Frank Dobson MP has confirmed that he will be coming to York to speak to York Young Labour and York University Labour Club on Wednesday 28th June at 12.30pm at York University.

All members are invited to come along and put questions to Frank. More details will be sent out soon.

Next event

We'll be having a social/meeting on Thursday 8th in Lendal Cellars at 7.30pm. It's the first meeting we've had for a while and we'll be planning what we're going to be doing in the next couple of months.

I hope everyone can make it and it would be an ideal time for new members to come along and get involved. An e-mail will be sent round shortly with more info.
